About Dr. McKenzie

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with nine years of experience providing psychological services in California. My current role is in adult diagnostic evaluations, with a primary focus on ADHD and complex clinical presentations.

My training at the California School of Professional Psychology, followed by a postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente, gave me a strong foundation in evidence-based assessment. While at Kaiser, I received specialized training in adult ADHD evaluations, and I’ve continued to refine my approach to be both accurate and compassionate.

Approach to ADHD Assessment

I conduct ADHD assessments for adults using a comprehensive, individualized approach. I take great care in evaluating each person’s unique experiences, and I’m especially passionate about helping clients understand symptoms they may have struggled with for much of their lives without knowing why.

Assessment Tools Utilized:

  • DIVA-5 (Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults)
  • TOMM (Test of Memory Malingering)
  • Conners Adult ADHD Rating Scales (CAARS)
  • Structured Clinical Interviews (e.g., SCID)
  • Beck Depression Inventory (BDI)
  • Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI)
  • Other relevant psychometric measures as needed

These tools, among others, help in forming a comprehensive understanding, often alongside measures like the BDI and BAI to help rule out related concerns or co-occurring conditions.

Broader Experience & Philosophy

Beyond ADHD, I have extensive experience working with individuals living with severe mental illness. This background has profoundly shaped the way I approach each assessment—with empathy, clarity, and a deep respect for the complexity of the human mind.

My goal is always to provide answers that empower. I strive to help people move forward with greater insight into their experiences and renewed confidence in their ability to navigate their lives.

“My goal is always to provide answers that empower, and to help people move forward with greater insight and confidence.”

Personal Interests

When I’m not working, I enjoy reading—especially books that explore the history and science of psychology. Favorites like The Mismeasure of Man and Behave continue to inspire my curiosity about how we understand ourselves and each other. This passion for understanding the human mind extends beyond my professional life and enriches my perspective as a psychologist.
